National Tourism Week was kicked off locally with the sixth annual Tourism Banquet, Monday.
Patti Cavender with the Frankfort Sunflower Festival and Sunroom at the Brick is the president and CEO of the Ross-Chillicothe Convention and Visitors Bureau. She says attendance to the event is growing, as well as appreciation for the industry.
Five awards are given each year for workers in the industry...and this year there were 32 nominees.
Cavender pointed out that the bureau also helps new events with promotional grants for efforts begun in the last five years. All three of the 2019 grant winners were events on-foot or on-wheels.
