DD Awareness Month Showcase at the Pump House

March is national Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, so the Pioneer School has filled the Pump House with their art.

Courtney Lewis is the communications coordinator for the Pioneer School, and she explained that they have done an art show in the Pump House Center for the Arts for several years.

She said everyone from preschool to adult classes has spent last several months preparing for it. Some of the artworks are group classroom projects, and some are individual creations.

Lewis said the intent of DD awareness is to focus on treating someone with disabilities as a person, with kindness and inclusion.

All the art is for sale, and the proceeds go to the Committee for DD Month to help with events coming up.
