Long-Time Cavs PA Announcer Dies


Longtime Chillicothe High School Public Address Announcer Bill Riley passed away Sunday. He was 91. His wife Betty passed away just last week.


Following service in the US Navy in WWII, Riley worked for the US Postal Service retiring in 1989. He was a long time member and Past President of the Chillicothe Cavalier Club and served behind the microphone for Chillicothe High School athletics for more than 30 years and was known as the “Voice of the Cavaliers”.  


The press box at Herrnstein Field was named in his honor.  Bill also served as an official for the Ohio Association of Track and Field and was an official for the Ohio Special Olympics.


Visitation at Fawcett, Oliver, Glass Funeral home is 5pm-7pm Friday and services Saturday at 11am at the funeral home.
