A tractor-trailer crash delayed traffic on US 35 southeast of Chillicothe for five hours early this Sunday morning.
The Chillicothe Post of the Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at 3:28am when a 2017 Peterbilt, tractor-trailer, driven by 60-year-old Thomas Akers of Mason, West Virginia, traveled off the right side of US Route 35.
It struck a traffic sign and guard rail between US 23 and US 50. It was hauling a tanker trailer, but that was empty.
US 35 was reduced to one lane to remove the vehicle and guard rail from the roadway.
The Chillicothe Post was assisted at the crash scene by the Scioto Township Fire Department, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Ohio Emergency Management Agency.
The crash remains under investigation.
