Some of the paint and spackle was still drying, but a large crowd attended the ribbon cutting of Chillicothe's new primary school Sunday.
Principal Joanna Strawser is stepping up from six years at Allen Elementary to head the brand new building. She said she was nervous at first with it, but after a year of staff from four elementaries planning together she says it's all coming together.
Strawser said she was excited, loved how the building turned out, and can't wait to see how the kids respond to it.
Kindergarten through 2nd grade students arrive next week to fill the colorful, open-plan interior at Cherry Street.
