Living at a Glacial Edge Tonight

Learn about the living at the edge of a glacier tonight at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park.

Local archaeologist Gary Argabright will speak to  the Mound City Chapter of the Ohio Archaeological Society at 7pm tonight, Tuesday, August 14.

His presentation will be a power point slide show titled “Living on the Edge of the Retreating Wisconsin Glacier.” Gary’s recent trip to Alaska gave him many opportunities to see glaciers and to observe the surrounding post-glacial landscapes, flora and fauna.

Although Alaska’s remaining glaciers are “Alpine” glaciers, Gary believes that they can provide us with useful many insights into Ohio’s last Ice Age and what it must have been like to live in a world actively being shaped by the Wisconsin “continental” glacier.

Doors will open at 6:30, but arrive early to share artifacts and the latest archaeological news.
