Chillicothe's Tree Commission is designed to protect the city's valuable natural resource, which protects us along with being beautiful to look at.
Commission member Gary McFadden says the commission serves as an advisory council to the mayor, which issues permits dealing with changes being recommended for trees in the city right-of-way.
Ash Trees have long been a part of Chillicothe's natural landscape, but many of those had to be removed in recent years due to the devastation caused by the Emerald Ash Borer....Walt Smith of the Chillicothe Tree Commission says Second Street was among the areas where big damage was done.
The commission's monthly meetings are open to the public.
