Monday evening, the Chillicothe City School board ratified their superintendent pro tem.
The board of education appointed assistant superintendant Deborah Swinehart as superintendant...since superintendant Jon Saxton had left on Family Medical Leave about May 7th.
Board member Steve Mullins said the appointment was a procedural action, required by state law and board policy. Mullins was unable to say why Saxton was on leave, since confidentiality is required in FMLA.
The board also approved $525,000 for abatement and demolition of Worthington Elementary, which will happen once it is emptied after school ends. State funds will pay for that.
The board also reviewed progress on building construction...and discussed trying for a levy again.
