Vinton County Airport to Host Rally

For the second year in a row, the Vinton County Airport will be the scene of pit areas, mechanics, very fancy cars, and expert rally drivers Thursday and Friday, May 17 and 18.

The event, known as the Southern Ohio Forest Rally, will have a prep day on Thursday and the rally will begin Friday.

This event represents Round 4 of the Rally America National Championship and you are invited to the airport to see all the activities as cars leave to begin the rally at 2 p.m. Friday.

On that day food hamburgers and hot-dogs on the grill, pulled pork, and a variety of sides will be served in the airport’s shelter house beginning at noon and continuing until 6 p.m.

Airplane rides will be offered, but since Friday is a workday rides will depend on the availability of pilots and planes.

The Vinton County Airport is located about six miles north of McArthur on Airport Road. For more information call Steve Keller at 740-418-2612.

This is a family friendly event, the pit areas get busy, the food is great...and the cars are fast.
