School Board Starts End of Worthington

As new schools rises on Cherry and Arch streets, an old school comes closer to its fate on Allen Avenue.

The Chillicothe city school board met in special session Monday afternoon, and their main action was to move towards demolition for Worthington Elementary.

Allen and Tiffin elementaries will also be demolished, though Mount Logan will be reused.

Superintendent Jon Saxton explained, Worthington is the first to go because its space is needed, early on.  The location is needed for access and green space for the 3-6 middle school.

So when will the end start?

Saxton says the final board meeting should be in April, where they will start saying farewell.  Abatement and demolition won't start until the after school year ends.
