Unioto, SE, LE & Huntington VB in District Finals

Three more SVC volleyball teams move into the district finals, along with Logan Elm.

Division 2 District Semis @ Southeastern High School:

(24-1) Unioto swept (22-3) Sheridan (25-15, 25-22, 25-14) in the Division 2 District Semis at Southeastern High School, Wednesday. (22-2) Logan Elm later joined the Shermans with a (22-25, 25-10, 27-25, 25-14) victory over (22-3) Gallia Academy.

Unioto combined solid front row attacking to go with a tough service game to keep the Generals off-balance most of the match. Sheridan took early leads in each of the first two sets, only to see Unioto take over. Set 2 was precarious at times, with the match tied at 22-22, before the Shermans pulled to the victory. Set three was never close, with Unioto darting to leads of 6-0, 16-4 and 21-9.

Unioto had three players with double-digit kills, led by Ashley Taylor's 12 kills and 10 digs. Jocie Fisher and Hannah Hall each had 10 kills with Amanda McGlone collecting 6.

Sheridan was led by Emma Conrad with 11 kills, 8 of which came in the first set.

The nightcap of the D-2 semis, saw a back-and forth battle with Logan Elm winning 3-1 over Gallia Academy. After the Blue Angels took the Set 1, 25-22, the Braves regrouped to pound Gallia 25-10 in Set 2. Set 3 was the highlight of the night, with Gallia rallying from being down by almost double digits early, only to see Gallia come back. The set was 24-24, before Logan Elm pushed through for the 27-25 win. Set 4 was also close with Logan Elm leading 10-8, but then took-off for the 25-14 win and the match.
