Columbus Crew Wants New Stadium, May Move to Texas

The owner of the Columbus Crew says the club may move out of Columbus.

Precourt Sports Ventures, LLC says it is exploring options to ensure the long-term viability of the club, including remaining in Columbus at a new stadium or potentially relocating to Austin, Texas.

The company's CEO, Anthony Precourt, said in a statement, that despite the company's investments and efforts, its current course is not sustainable. Adding that the club has ambition to be a standard bearer in MLS, and therefore has no choice but to expand and explore all of its options.

The company says they have been in communication with city and community leaders in Columbus regarding its concerns over the outdated stadium and low attendance since early 2016.
