A Pickaway County multimillionaire has been found guilty on tax-evasion charges.
The Columbus Dispatch reports John Anderson Rankin could face a maximum just more than eight years in federal prison.
A jury at federal court in Columbus found him guilty Thursday on all 17 tax-related charges against him dating back to 2005. He also will owe at least an estimated $4 million to the IRS.
Rankin was one of the wealthiest defendants federal prosecutors in Columbus said they have ever had in a tax case. He also represented himself at trial.
Rankin owns a software development company, and is the principal in the Tuscan Table Italian restaurant in Circleville. Prosecutors estimate he is likely worth anywhere between $10 million to $15 million.
