Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney wants to see city council move forward to accept a $600,000 federal grant to hire three more firefighters. Mayor Feeney says it will mean the city having to put in some of their own money as well.
City council's safety committee is schedule to meet September 18th to make their recommendation on whether to ask the full-council to vote on accepting the grant.
The grant will require a 35% match up front from the city, but increase to 65% within a few years.
