Chillicothe wrapped up the 2017 Prospect League season with a 2-1 win at Champion City Saturday.
The Paints managed just three hits on the night, two against Kings starter Mitchell Bault (Ohio Dominican) but won the game with two-unearned runs.
Two walks, a wild pitch and an error led to a 2-run 8th inning for the Paints. With two outs, Neil Lambert (Triton) stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Chad Roberts (Northern Kentucky) drew a walk. Tyler Cowles (Ohio State) reached on an error. Lambert and Roberts scored on the play to give the Paints the 2-1 lead.
Meanwhile, Chillicothe’s Daryin Lewis (Rio Grande) scattered 8 hits and struck out 10 in pitching a complete game. Lewis was the only Paints pitcher to go the distance this summer.
Chillicothe finished the season 29-31. Champion City was 29-29.
