The mystery for the Chillicothe Paints continues.
Butler’s hex on the Paints continued Tuesday with a 9-6 Blue Sox victory, the team’s 11th over Chillicothe this season and ninth consecutively.
Butler did damage early crossing the plate three times in the opening frame and tacking on two more in the 2nd inning for a 5-1 lead.
Chillicothe closed the gap to 5-4 with a three-run 3rd inning. Butler had two errors to allow Chris Petrucci (Marietta) and Dallas Hall (Miami) to score unearned runs.
The Sox scored twice more in the 6th on Brady Gulawoski’s two run homer for a 7-4 lead.
Chillicothe could get no closer than 8-6.
Jacob Niggemeyer (Marshall) slipped to 3-2 on the summer.
The Paints are 27-29 and the East Division leading Blue Sox are 35-21.
The two clubs meet again Wednesday for Fan Appreciation Night with fireworks after the game. Gates open at 6:05pm and game time is 7:05pm.
