Danville was a 9-4 winner over Chillicothe Saturday night, leaving the Paints three games back of second place Champion City.
Zack Harvey (Rio Grande) fell behind early, surrendering a 3-run homer to Danville’s James Govern (Eastern Illinois) in the 1st inning.
Kyle Orloff (Indianapolis, pictured) launched a 2-run shot to left in the bottom of the 1st to cut the Dans’ lead to 3-2.
Nick Webre (LSU) put Danville ahead 7-2 with another 3-run homer in the 4th and the Paints couldn’t overcome the deficit.
Chillicothe (25-27) travels to Springfield to face Champion City Sunday. With six games remaining in the regular season, the Paints remain alive in the hunt for a Prospect League playoff spot, but their chances are dwindling.
The Paints will return to Chillicothe Tuesday for their final home stand of the season.
