Paints Surpass Jackrabbits in the Final Inning 8-7

The Chillicothe Paints took on the Kokomo Jackrabbits at VA Memorial Stadium, Thursday evening. In a game that took 3 hours 11 minutes to play, the Jackrabbits held the lead until the bottom of the 9th when the Paints stole the game. 

The Paints came out of the 1st inning trailing the Jackrabbits 1-0. No one crossed home in the 2nd, but Kokomo brought two runners home in the 3rd. They added another run in the 4th to have a 4-0 lead over the Paints. Home plate didn't get crossed in the 5th and the Jackrabbits brought home another run in the 6th.

In the top of the 7th Kokomo crossed home twice, but the action for the Paints got under way in the bottom of the 7th bringing 4 runners across home plate for the first time Thursday evening. The 8th inning remained scoreless with the Jackrabbits still holding a 7-4 lead over the Paints. Kokomo could not cross home with their final time at bat, hoping their 3 run lead over the Paints would hold. The Paints had other plans, bring 4 runs across home plate to steal the game by 1 run, 8-7 over the Jackrabbits.

The Paints had 8 Runs with 9 Hits and 2 Errors while the Jackrabbits had 7 Runs 14 Hits and no Errors. Chillicothe (7-2-0) will play Kokomo (3-6-0) again Friday evening, with first pitch at 7:05 PM at VA Memorial Stadium.

In other games Layfayette defeated Butler 11-4, Champion City took down West Virginia 4-3, Terre Haute beat Danville 8-4, and Springfield topped Quincy 9-2.
