Paints Suffer 3-2 Loss in Indiana

Chillicothe earned a split in its season opening road series. After a 17-3 win in Terre Haute Tuesday, the Paints came up short Wednesday falling 3-2.

After four scoreless innings the Paints (1-1) broke the ice first when Creighton Eldridge drew a one out walk in the 5th inning. Eldridge scored on a double by Beau Filkins. Terre Haute Rex (1-1) tied it up 1-1.

The Paints took a 2-1 lead in the 7th but the Rex answered in the bottom of the inning. Jalbert Melo singled in a run and then later scored the go ahead run on a fielder's choice by Nelson Muniz for the 3-2 final.

John Cecil (0-1) suffered the loss for Chillicothe walking two and allowing two runs in relief of starter Evan McAndrew. The sophomore at Mansfield University yielded one run on three hits, striking out six in his Paints debut. Austin Krizan earned the win in relief for Terre Haute.

The team returns to Chillicothe for its 25th season home-opener Thursday night at VA Memorial Stadium against the Champion City Kings (2-0), the game starts at 7:05pm.

In other results Champion City defeated butler 13-6, West Virgina beat Kokomo 4-1, and Quincy beat Danville 7-6.
