Candidates Night Much Different for Chillicothe-Ross League of Women Voters

The annual “Candidates Night” produced by the League of Women Voters is now in a much different format. The video version was premiered Tuesday evening at Ohio University Chillicothe.

Bart Henshaw, Voter Service Chair of the Chillicothe-Ross League of Women Voters, said the new five-minute videos that will be available online allow them to reach a larger audience more conveniently.

Henshaw said it could not have been done without work by the Recording Workshop, or “Rec W,” in Massieville. Three league members had a sit-down interview there with 11 candidates for Ross County and state offices, and if they spoke for more than five minutes, it was trimmed down.

An audience of about 70, including a few candidates, watched all the videos on October 1st in the Stevenson Center of OU-C. Each video should be available soon on the YouTube page of the Chillicothe-Ross League of Women Voters.

Henshaw said the league is also closely watching Issue 1, the anti-gerrymandering constitutional amendment. She said the citizens panel to redistrict Ohio is supported by all sides since the current state government is not following the last constitutional mandate for redistricting.

The Chillicothe-Ross League of Women Voters has a Facebook page and website. The fall election is November 5th.
