The core of the Ross County Fair is agriculture, and tractors are a big part of that. Kevin Coleman was there for the tractor parade.
Tom Harp is a collector and a leader in the antique tractor display near the rabbits and poultry barn, which he says is one of the better tractor shows around Ohio.
He says they have about 70 tractors this year to show what agriculture was like and how it has changed. He says the newest machines date to the mid-1990s, with some 1930s steel-wheeled models.
Harp said he started the fairgrounds parade a few years ago, and people look forward to it. He says it's the best way to show them - on the move. It wound through the grounds for about 45 minutes Thursday afternoon, but the tractors remain on display all day until the close of the fair.
Harp says the tractor display group is very informal, and is just a committee under fair board, with no entry fee and no awards. If you want to display a machine, just bring one in the Saturday before the fair.
