DeWine Easing COVID-19 Restrictions

Governor Mike Dewine on Thursday afternoon outlined some of the steps Ohio will take to begin easing COVID-19 safety restrictions around the state as numbers continue to decrease statewide.

The governor said that sporting venues will be allowed to fill to 25-to-30 percent capacity, depending on whether events are indoors or outdoors.

Dewine added that Ohio's veterans homes will resume admissions and that restrictions on visits to the state's behavioral hospitals will be lifted.

He said Ohioans can plan for proms, graduations and other events this spring. He hasn't said when people can start to schedule these events, but says formal guidance will be released next week.

Indoor wedding receptions and outdoor sporting events can resume at higher capacity now. People at these events must wear masks and have to sit in 'pods' of no more than six.

The governor stressed that mask-wearing and social distancing will still be required in spaces where other restrictions are being eased.
