The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 29 of their cases Friday, with six open.

In one, according to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office, on December 9th 31-year-old Jeffrey A. Adkins of Bainbridge (aka "Buggie") was seen entering a car on East Main Street in Bainbridge through a broken sunroof. A sheriff's deputy found him rifling through the center console and arrested him on outstanding warrants...but Adkins said he needed his wallet from a tool bag in the car. The wallet had been stolen from elsewhere, and contained a Master Card, so he was charged with receiving stolen property.
On July 11th, Adkins had been found lying on a couch in a woman's Bainbridge apartment, apparently high on drugs. He fled after she yelled at him, and had not been found by law enforcement until December.
For indictments on tresspass and receiving stolen property, Adkins could get up to 2 1/2 years and $7,500 in fines.
Adkins was also one of four inmates who escaped from the Ross County Jail February 5th, and was taken into custody behind Shawnee Square after jumping into the Scioto River. Arraignments on the jail escapees should happen Monday.

In another, according to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office, on January 21st a Ross County deputy was delivering a copy of a protection order to a man on Scott Road between Owl Creek and Mingo roads, when the deputy found the subject of the protection order, 33-year-old Tara N. Payne, leaving the house and tossing a gas can, with a wood pile against the house on fire.
The officer assisted the man in getting a dog out of the house, but because of a large collection of ammunition, multiple township fire crews could not control the large fire and the house was a total loss.
The man said he had arrived home to find Payne spraying the wood pile with fuel and talking like she was on drugs. For indictments on aggravated arson she could get up to eight years and $15,000 in fines.
