Ross County Grand Jury Indicts Counterfeiter, Assault on Officer

In one, the lesson is to not get caught speeding if you're an out-of-state counterfeiter.

According to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office, 24-year-old Jamaal Witherspoon was pulled over by a trooper March 2nd for speeding on US 23 in a car with Arizona plates. He gave a fake name but was found to have an outstanding warrant from Arizona.

$1,200 worth of $50 bills were found in the glove box, which were found to be counterfeit. A computer, printer, paper and scissors were also found in the car.

For indictments on counterfeiting and possession of criminal tools, Witherspoon could get up to 2 1/2 years and $7,500 in fines.

In another, according to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office, on May 21st, Chillicothe police officers responded to a domestic incident on Seneca Road where a man reported being being assaulted by his live-in sister.

36-year-old Candace Hughes answered the door but broke the glass in it, then grabbed an officer's hand and pulled it down, necessitating multiple stitches.

For indictments on domestic violence and assault, Hughes could get up to two years and $6,000 in fines.
