Chillicothe Council Discusses Funding and More in Committee Meetings

Over about 45 minutes, Chillicothe Council discussed a few topics and committee assignments on their off-Monday April 20th.

...

Auditor Krystal Spetnagel mentioned that city income tax revenue is not showing a drop, but that's probably because of the one-month delay in reporting, and complicated employment and unemployment situations.

...

Safety Service chair Tara Gillum invited Fire Chief Jeff Creed to address paying to design a new west-side fire station during the current economic unknowns.

He said the department has made long-term planning and financial responsibility a priority, and the Safety Services Levy allows for emergency use of some of its funds for personnel.

He said planning now is wise, even if the plans are shelved...and who knows if recovery funds might be available to build and staff the new fire station. So Creed asked council to re-appropriate $149,833.33.

...

Diedra Nickerson said the city needed to appropriate $150,000 to get grant money to build sidewalks on South Watt Street, but the expenditure would be reimbursed quickly.

...

And in the continuing discussion on permitting "underspeed vehicles" on city streets, it was pointed out that a 25 mile-an-hour speed limit might be better for golf carts.

And, though child seats might be ideal, there are children on bikes with much less protection.
