Pioneers Turn Table in Third Quarter for Gold Ball Win Over Adena

Zane Trace used a 21-3 third quarter to blow open their regular season finale against Adena in a 58-38 win that wrapped up the SVC Gold Basketball for a (14-0) conference record.

The game was a see-saw affair in the first two quarters with both teams trading leads and the game tied 24-24 at half. But, that all changed in the pivotal third period when the Pioneers shot 70% from the field and the Warriors were only 1/10.

For the game, Zane Trace shot 23/49 from the field for 46%- including 4/6 from the arc and added 9/12 from the foul line. Adena was 13/44 for only 30%- including 9/25 from the arc and added just 2/5 from the foul line.

ZT won the rebounding battle 28-20, with the Warriors committed 15 turnovers and ZT 8.

Cameron Evans led all players with 29 points, which included his 1,000th career point in the first half. Nick Nesser added 13 points. Adena had only one person in double figures with Preston Sykes scoring 12.

The Pioneers conclude their regular season at (14-0/18-4) as Adena slipped to (11-3/16-6). Both teams are top seeds in their respective sectional tournaments. Adena plays in the Division 3 finals at Waverly on February 22nd while Zane Trace plays February 23rd at Southeastern High School.
