Brian Windhorst Says the Los Angeles Lakers Are Not a Championship Team

Los Angeles Lakers Introduce Anthony Davis
Brian Windhorst: “The Lakers won 37 games last year and are absolutely a 50-win team this year and top 4 playoff team… But I don’t see them as a championship team right now. They don’t have enough flexibility, and I don’t think they have as good of shooters as you’re gonna need; they’re better but they’re not great. They’re relying on Anthony Davis and LeBron James to stay healthy. Unless a bunch of things fall into place, they aren’t a championship team.”

Listen to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst join The Rich Eisen Show to explain why he doesn’t think the Los Angeles Lakers are a realistic NBA Finals threat despite acquiring six-time All-Star Anthony Davis in the offseason.

Windhorst believes the Lakers will obviously be better than last season’s dismal 37-45 season that saw LeBron James miss the playoffs for only the second time in his career, but thinks the team has a poor combination of perimeter bombers in a league that overwhelmingly rewards three-point shooting.

Check out the interview below as Windhorst details to Rich Eisen why a stacked Western Conference will prevent LeBron and the Lakers from steering through a bracket that is going to feature imposing roadblocks the likes of the Clippers, Jazz, Warriors, Blazers, Rockets, Nuggets, and Spurs.
