The open house will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Wilmington Post, located at 950 Rombach Avenue, Wilmington.

The public visit will allow members of the community interested in a possible career in the State High Patrol to tour the Wilmington facility and learn about employment opportunities.

A recruiter will be on-site to assist with recruitment questions and help with the application process. Patrol personnel including troopers, dispatchers and professional staff will also be on hand to interact with attendees and answer questions about their specific duties.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol's overall 90th anniversary celebration includes a partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - a youth literacy program that mails age-appropriate books, monthly, to enrolled children, at no cost to the child's family.

The country music icon started the program in 1995 on the inspiration of her father's inability to read and write. The project was first opened to children in Parton's hometown of Locust Ridge, Tennessee and since then the Imagination Library has expanded into five countries, with more than 2.4-million children enrolled and more than 204-million books gifted.

Families with children age five and under can enroll their children into the program during Friday's open house. After enrollment, the Imagination Library mails children one free book each month until their fifth birthday.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is open to all Ohio children age five and under. Families interested in enrolling their children into the program can do so HERE.
