Chillicothe Memorial Day Services Scheduled for this Saturday and Monday

The Memorial Day holiday will be observed on Monday, May 29th but a local Memorial Day Service in Chillicothe will take place a couple days prior.

The Ross County Veteran’s Council will host its annual Memorial Day service at the Veterans Memorial Park, off Yoctangee Parkway in downtown Chillicothe this Saturday, May 27th.

The service will begin at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday with former U.S. Army Ranger Lt. Col. Robert Leach delivering the keynote address. The community is encouraged to attend.

The Memorial Day service accompanies the Feast of the Flowering Moon, underway in downtown Chillicothe from Friday, May 26th through Sunday, May 28th.

A Veteran’s Grand Parade will also be held on Saturday as part of the “Feast”, which will begin at 4:30 p.m.

On Memorial Day proper, the Ross County Veteran’s Honor Guard will host a series of services as various Ross County-area cemeteries. Each service will feature rifles salutes and a performance of Taps.

9:00 a.m. Grandview Cemetery – Brookside Drive, Chillicothe

9:30 a.m. – Saint Margaret’s Cemetery – Worthington Avenue, Chillicothe

10:00 a.m. – Greenlawn Cemetery Soldiers’ Circle – Eastern Avenue, Chillicothe

10:15 a.m. - Greenlawn Cemetery Soldiers’ Square – Eastern Avenue, Chillicothe

10:45 a.m. - Floral Hills Cemetery – U.S. 23 – Chillicothe

11:30 a.m. – Hallsville Cemetery - State Route 180 & Walnut Creek Road, Hallsville

12:15 p.m. – Roland Cemetery - State Route 104, Chillicothe
