Boy Scouts Further Delaying Decision on Chief Logan Camp

The Simon Kenton Council of the Boy Scouts have announced they are further delaying taking action on Chief Logan camp in Ross County.

In November, supporters started an online petition to save the camp, after the council said it planned to close the 300-acre Chief Logan after the 2020 summer season because it can’t afford to keep subsidizing underused properties in disrepair.

After a long meeting, the council formed a committee to look into revenue options for its camps.

Its findings were presented to Thursday's council meeting, where the council says it will defer efforts to market, sell, lease or close council-owned properties...but it also calls for an update at the May meeting.

The council excluded Camp Lazarus in Delaware County, where they are looking to sell about 60 unused acres.
