Bishop Flaget 6th Grader Headed to National Speech Competition

A 6th grade student from Bishop Flaget is headed to a national speech competition this July after winning the state-level competition, held earlier this month.

Competing as a member of the Chillicothe Aerie Eagles, Isabella Flores was the 11 to 12 year age group category winner of the Fraternal Order of Eagles’ God, Flag and Country speech competition, held May 3rd in Zanesville.

The young Ms. Flores won her age group with a speech on diversity and unity. It earned her a $2000 college scholarship, a $300 cash prize and a trip to the national competition in Louisville, Kentucky this July.

7th grade Flaget student, Haley Laughlin, also placed 3rd at the state-level competition for the 12 to 13 age group, and Zane Trace freshman, Carmen Corcoran, placed 3rd in the 14 to 15 age group. Both are fellow members of the Aerie Eagles and each received $100 cash prizes.
