Decomposed Body Found in Bag in Pike County

The Pike County Sheriff is conducting a homicide investigation on a decomposed body found today.

Sheriff Charles Reader reports that his office got the call shortly before 3pm, after the discovery by three mushroom hunters near Buchanan Road and Trego Road in Pike County.

Officers found a large bag containing decomposed remains just a few yards off the roadway, and the county coroner confirmed the remains to be human.

The gender of the deceased should be confirmed through an autopsy, and no positive identification has been made.

The Sheriff requested the assistance of Ohio BCI to process and collect evidence while the Sheriff's office is handling the investigation.

The body will be autopsied this week in Montgomery County, and the Sheriff and his investigators will attend it.
