Each year, hundreds of child abuse cases are reported to area law enforcement officials.

The Child Protection Center of Ross County has been working side-by-side with these officials since 1997, also providing services to other area counties that include Fayette, Pickaway, Pike, Jackson and Vinton counties.

Executive Director Julie Oates says while they work closely with Children's Services, the Protection Center is not publicly funded They are funded through grants, donations and fundraisers. Among their yearly fundraisers is the Annual Dr. David Ater Memorial Golf Tournament each August at the Chillicothe Jaycees.

The Child Protection Center provides an Annual Kid's Day Event on March 30th, designed to be a fun, hands-on experience for children of all ages.
