Ohio Students To Learn Cursive By End Of 5th Grade

Students in Ohio may soon be required to learn cursive by the end of 5th grade...after computers and texting have allowed its neglect.

The Ohio Senate passed House Bill 58 which mandates that the state's Education Department come up with a new curriculum before the start of next year.

In it, students will need to be able to write in cursive before sixth grade and will also have to legibly write in print by the end of third grade.  The Ohio House approved the bill back in June.

Any adjustments to the bill will need to be approved by the House before it's signed by Governor Kasich.
