Chillicothe Council Adds to Police Forces

Monday evening, Chillicothe Council voted to add a little bit to the safety forces.

Dustin Proehl saw three ordinance pass on first reading.  They added two police officers to the ranks.

One street officer is hoped for by the end of the year.

And, the schools will get a second resource officer, hopefully by the end of the month, which the schools are paying for.

The ordinances also increased the number of combined police and fire radio dispatchers from seven to eight.  Overtime costs were running high there since scheduling was so tight.

Proehl said this is part of fulfilling the promise to the community, after they approved the Safety-Service Levy a few years ago.
