Three Area Athletes Win State Track Titles, Friday


Three area track and field athletes have walked away with state championships at the OHSAA State Meet in Columbus.


Unioto’s Autumn Mohan became the latest to stand at the top of the winners stand, winning the D2 Shotput on Saturday. Mohan had earlier placed fourth in the Discus on Friday.


Travis Burton of Paint Valley won the D-3 Boys Discus, while finishing second in the Shotput.


Katie Seyfang of Miami Trace won the D-2 Girls Discus title.


Other Saturday action saw Katie Seyfang of Miami Trace placing 3rd in the D-2 Shotput, Rayanna Burns of Washington CH was third in the 400 Dash.


Unioto's Tucker Markko was 5th in the 3200 and Cole Clever of Zane Trace was 8th. Chayden Pitzer of McClain was 8th in the Girls High Hurdles.


In Division 3 Saturday, Leesburg Fairfield's Matthew Mangus was 7th in the 3200 Run. 


Other area athletes to place on Friday, included Austin Goolsby of Hillsboro as D-2 Pole vault Runner-Up, Rayanna Burns of Washington CH third in the Girls High Jump and Lane Ruby of Southeastern was sixth in the D-3 Boys Long Jump.
