Haines Has Big Night as Hillsboro Powers Past Astros 48-7

By Dave Hilliard

East Clinton used a trick play to take a 7-0 lead on the game’s opening play, but after that, it was all Hillsboro as the Indians raced to a 42-7 lead at halftime. Hillsboro defeated the Astros 48-7 in Lees Creek Friday.

Hillsboro’s power rushing game amassed 349 yards and junior quarterback Mason Swayne completed two passes in two attempts, both for touchdowns, as the Indians improved their record to 2-1 overall.

Senior receiver and safety Britton Haines scored on offense, defense and special teams, catching a 65 yard touchdown pass, returning an interception for a touchdown and converting 6-of-7 PATs.

Hillsboro returns home to face Williamsburg next Friday while the Astros (0-3) travel to Greenfield to take on the McClain Tigers.
