The suspect in multiple shootings, two of which were deadly, is behind bars. Franklin County sheriff's deputies said Jeffrey Holsinger, 31, of Greenfield, was arrested on Tuesday night, several hours after he was named a suspect in the murders in Highland and Ross counties.
Authorities said the first shooting took place just after 2 p.m. on Ford Avenue in Highland County where Steven Mottie, Jr., 35, was found fatally shot and another victim had been struck in the head with a pistol and robbed.
Officials with the Ross County Sheriff's Office said they also responded to calls of shootings just before 3 p.m. on Rapid Forge Road and just after 7:45 p.m. on Browns Chapel Road. The victim on Rapid Forge Road was taken to the hospital, while the Browns Chapel victim died, authorities said.
Authorities said Holsinger was driving a stolen vehicle when he was being pursued by authorities in Washington Court House and Madison County. He was arrested in Franklin County.
In 2010, Holsinger was captured after walking away from a work assignment on a farm while he was being housed at the Ross Correctional Institution. He was serving time for a conviction of receiving stolen property.
