I was saddened to hear of the passing of high school buddy Ed Vallette. Ed was one of my best friends late in high school but we grew apart afterward due to college and life. Last I saw him was at my wedding reception in 1982. We went on a canoeing excursion before graduation. I like to think that was where his idea for the Viking Festival began.
Vallette touched so many with his passion for our Teays Valley mascot, the Viking. In 2001 he founded the Ashville Viking Festival which brought viking lore to life before the eyes of the villagers. Re-enactment was a part of Ed's life with his VIking portrayals at the annual Ohio Renaissance Festival near Lebanon, Ohio.
R.I.P. Ed, wise beyond his years. Prayers of comfort for his loved ones. - Dan Ramey, Class of 1980.
