Six wrestlers from the SCOL will return Friday for either the Quarterfinals or the consolation round after Thursday action.
Three wrestlers from the SCOL--Hillsboro Ryan Kelley (120 pounds) and Kordell Ford (160 pounds) along with Miami Trace Russell Miller (170 pounds) won their first round matches & advance to Friday morning quarterfinal round starting at 10am.
Kelley defeated Juwan Thomas of Sandusky Perkins by an 8-3 score at 120 pounds, Ford defeated Aldin Leaker 12-4 of Eaton at 160 pounds andMiller at 170 pounds defeated Mentor Lake Catholic's Kaz Struna by a 8-3 decision.
A win during the Friday AM session would put them in the semi-finals Friday night while a loss knocks them into Friday afternoon consolation round & they would have to win at least 2 matches to stay alive to place (top 8) finish on Saturday.
Meanwhile three other wrestlers from SCOL schools are still alive but are 1 loss away on Friday from elimination after losing in the opening match but winning their 1st round consolation match. Still alive is Trent Duffy of Miami trace (113 pounds), Caleb Price of Chillicothe (138) & Tye Smith of Washington Court House (170 pounds). Duffy & Price won by a point in their wins while Smith stayed alive with a pin of his opponent.
Three other wrestlers were done after Thursday action. Bryson Laytart and Jeremiah Jones both of Miami Trace were eliminated after losing both of their matches. Laytart was pinned twice at 132 pounds & Jones lost a 7-3 decision in the 1st round & a 9-5 decision in the consolations. In Division 3 Clinton-Massie Davey Tunon lost 10-5 and 6-5 decisions at 138 pounds.
