Chillicothe’s Caleb Price is headed to the State Tournament at 138 pounds. Price won three straight consolation matches to seal his ticket. “His match to place top 4 was against Isaiah Collier of Fairfield Union” said Cavs Coach Mike Peck. Price won the match 4-2. “Caleb controlled the entire match with precise takedowns and workmanship riding.”
Cristian Collins came up short at 160. In his qualifying match against Troy Stalder of Athens, Collins was tied at 1-1. With less 10 seconds remaining before overtime, Stalder scored the winning takedown to win 3-1. “Cristian was able to bounce back to grab the Alternate spot (5th) place against Luke Matthews of Shawnee 7-2” said Peck. It was Collins’ 100th career victory.
The Cavalier Wrestling careers for Jacob Price and Tyler Howard came to an end.
For Price, it was one match shy of the top 6. “Jacob won his first match of the day 9-5 over DJ White of Logan Elm. However fell in the next round 9-7 to Tyler Young of Ross. Jacob has been the leader of this team on and off the mat the last four years and will be dearly missed.”
At 285, Howard lost to Corbin McCune of Shawnee. “Tyler had a good year and was the most improved kid on the team.”
