Pam Allen's Swim teams finished behind host Portsmouth Notre Dame Wednesday in a Quad Meet at Shawnee State University.

Team scores for the Girls Meet, PND 94, Chillicothe 79, Portsmouth 72 and Lucasville Valley 16. In the Boys Meet, PND 133.5, Chillicothe 83, Lucasville Valley 31 and Portsmouth 24.5.

Allen said the Shawnee pool is measured in meters meaning “each lap is a few feet longer but it is hard to adjust mind and strokes but the Cavaliers show their true colors, determination and strength.” Allen added “The only reason we took second is numbers, something we hope will change next year.”

The Cavs are back in the pool Thursday at Greenfield McClain and will swim in the Wilmington Invitational Saturday morning.

Chillicothe hosted Whitehall and Adena in a pair of dual matches at CHS Wednesday.

The Rams were heavy with senior experience and had three returning state qualifiers in the match.

Despite losing 42-21, Coach Mike Peck was happy the Cavs displayed maturity from the course of the season, saying his team “fought hard and showed their growth half way into the season.”

The Cavs managed four wins against Whitehall, Nick Lawhorn (106) by pin in 1:59, Jake Crompton (145) by forfeit, Gene Dunn (185) by decision 11-4 and Trevan Bond-Pennington (195) after falling behind 5-0 came back to win by fall 2:26.

The Cavs blanked Adena 69-0. The Warriors forfeited 8 weight classes. In contested matches, Christian Collins (152) pinned Kyle Dyke in 1:38, Erik Alderman (160) pinned Lee Gray in 1:52, Daiquan Hall (170) beat Mike Crispen 8-2, Gene Dunn (182) over Brody Anderson by fall 2:32 and Mike Williams (220) pinned Mike Wiley in just 27 seconds.

The Cavs (9-2) and SEOAL member Warren head to Nelsonville-York for a match next Tuesday.


Shawn Blue’s Lady Cavs used a 9-0 run to take a 32-29 lead over the visiting Braves Tuesday, but Logan Elm regained the lead and held on for a 54-49 win.

Bri Dawes and Jenna Holton had 13 points each for the Cavaliers and Kayla Keener added 10. Holton added a team leading 8 rebounds.

Chillicothe (4-8) return to SEOAL play this Saturday at Logan.
