Another Cavalier has recently made a commitment to play football at the next level.
Josh Leonard signed a national letter of intent to play at Morehead State University in Kentucky.
The 6-foot-3 defensive and offensive lineman plans to major in communications at Morehead. Leonard says he was sold on the energy and desire to win displayed by the Eagles coaching staff.
“They wanted to win, and our last season at Chillicothe, we went 9-and-2 and I want to keep winning. It seemed like their coaches really wanted to win and that’s what sold me right there.”
Leonard and his fellow Cavalier teammates were ranked 22nd in the state for grade point average, a mark set by good work ethic and high expectations.
“CHS is an amazing school. It always seemed that my grades were best when I had football.”
If everything works according to his desires, we could see Leonard as an announcer on football telecasts. “My initial goal, I want to play football, get my degree… and I want to get my master’s, too.”
But it’s possible those plans may have him back home in Chillicothe one day.
“I wouldn’t mind coming back here in ten years and raising a family" added Leonard.
