"Artists of Color" at the Pump House's Juneteenth Celebration

The annual Juneteenth celebration will be at Chillicothe's Pump House art gallery Sunday, as the show "Artists of Color" continues. Kevin Coleman was there at the opening earlier this month and spoke to the artists.

Damianne Fischer says she always returns from her Delaware, Ohio home for the Art League's Spring Open show. She has two sculptures in her sustainable media of upcycled, reclaimed objects. They are modeled from sculptural clay, glue, flour..and even dryer lint. One is entitled "Her Earth" and represents a slightly scorched female figure.

Andy Hayes says he was originally a musician, and came to the area for the Music Workshop a few decades ago. He has two large prints of digital photos of Chillicothe, part of a series of 100. One is a photo of Yoctangee Lake that he has changed the tint of, and calls it "Purple Haze"...partly as a take on his name.
