Chillicothe and Ross County Military History Trolley Tours Coming Up

Learn about Chillicothe and Ross County's connections with every American war, on trolley bus tours the last three Saturdays in May. Kevin Coleman spoke with its guide.

Chillicothe Transit has been seeking out tour guides to highlight its new trolley bus, and local military volunteer and historian Bob Leach is the next one.

Leach will be leading hour-long tours starting at the transit facility at 7th and Watt streets, winding around Chillicothe and covering local connections with every American war - from the Revolution, through World War I, to the War on Terror.

He says this "Local Military History Tour" will highlight sites in and near Chillicothe. Tours will start at 10 and 11 am on Saturday, May 13th, 20th, and 27th, 2023.

They're free, but since there are only 22 seats on each one, you need to make reservations with Chillicothe Transit at 740 / 773-1569. If all 132 seats fill up, they'll start a waiting list. Leach points out that the previous history tour of 'Lost Archaeology' filled up quickly.

Hear Leach list all the connections he'll be pointing out in Kevin's interview below.

Retired Army Ranger Leach is also one of five commissioners for the Ross County Veterans Commission, for the Ross County Veterans Service Office in the Service Center. He is also a member of various local veterans organizations. And, he says being a history teacher at Huntington Schools helped prepare him for tours and presentations.
