A Wellston man lost his life in a single-vehicle Christmas eve crash.
The Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that at about 4:35pm Friday, 61-year-old Daniel E. Walton II was eastbound in a 2003 Ford Explorer on Fairgreens Road in Jackson County.
The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck the guardrail, returned to the roadway to cross the centerline, then went off the left side of the roadway, and overturned back onto the roadway.
Walton was transported by Jackson County Emergency Medical Services to Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. After his arrival, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Lick Township Fire Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and Jackson Fire Department assisted at the scene. Fairgreens Road was closed for about two hours.
The crash remains under investigation.
