Volunteers Sought for Annual Scioto River Waterway Cleanup Saturday

The 23rd annual Scioto River waterway cleanup will take place in this weekend. The yearly event, where volunteers help pick up trash and debris from the the banks of the Scioto in Chillicothe, will get underway at 9:00 a.m. this Saturday, April 24th, with volunteers meeting in the last parking lot to the right in the Yoctangee Park Annex.

Volunteers this year are encouraged to pre-register to avoid a rush at the registration table. To do that, simply send an email to Ross County Litter Control and Recycling at littercontrol@rosscountyohio.gov or call 740 / 772-5326.

The clean up will take place rain or shine unless high water or severe weather develops. Should that happen, we’ll make an announcement on our stations.

After that, another Earth Day weekend event happens, the annual "Earth Gathering" on the grounds of the Pump House, from 11am to 6pm.
