Man arrested after dog dies of poisoning

A man has been arrested for allegedly poisoning a dog with narcotics. According to a report from the Ross County Sheriff's Office, authorities responded to a home on Cattail Road on a threat complaint on March 29. A resident told authorities that James L. Griffin, Jr., 30, poisoned her dog and made statements leading her to believe Griffin was going to kill her and another person at the home, the report said.

A responding officer found the dog having a seizure, and it died a short time later.

The officer also indicated in the report that objects were found on a table in the house, and that the resident indicated that those items had been used by Griffin to introduce narcotics into the pet.

Griffin was arrested on an active warrant, as well as charges of domestic violence, animal cruelty, and aggravated menacing.
