Seventeen more new cases were reported for Ross County Wednesday. Figures from the Ross County Health District show two new cases among corrections inmates and long-term care residents, and 15 new community cases.
That increases the total number of cases documented in Ross County since spring to 1,937, with the state health department listing 1,386 of those as presumed recovered.
The death toll in connection to the virus in the county remains at 53.
Ross and many of its surrounding counties continue at a red alert status, with the exception of Hocking and Vinton counties, which are at orange status.
Statewide, new cases exceeded 8,000 on Friday for the first time.
