Chillicothe City Council Breezes Through Light Agenda at Virtual Session

Chillicothe City Council members had a light session on Monday.

On third reading, members passed an ordinance to revise the city's Codified Ordinances for residency requirements for city employees.

Council also heard the first reading of an ordinance to establish four Chillicothe Downtown Redevelopment districts, declaring the improvement of certain parcels of real property to be a public purpose, exempting 70% of the value of such improvements from real property taxation for a period of 30 years, requiring the owner of the parcels to make service payments in lieu of taxes, specifying the plan for using the service payments to promote economic development and job creation, authorizing the execution of an economic development plan, and establishing funds for the four districts for the deposit of service payments.

The ordinance will move to a second reading at the next City Council meeting.
